Treatise on astronomy by Abū al-Barakāt Hibat Allāh ([ibn] ‘Alī) ibn Malkā al-Baghdādī al-Baladī (أبو البركات هبة الله [(بن) علي] بن ملكا البغدادي البلدي) written for the Seljuq sultan Muḥammad Tapar ibn Malikshāh (محمد تبر بن ملكشاه, reg. 1105-18).

وبعد حمد الله والثناء عليه كما هو أهله ومستحقه فإن السلطان
الذي جمع الله تعالى فيه ما تفرق في عظماء الملوك ومذكورتهم من شرف
النفس وعلو الهمة ورضانه العقل وأصالة الرأي ويوقد الفطنة
وأخلاق الشجاعة والكرم والعدل والفقه والقيام بواجبات
الملك ...

... فذلك دليل قاطع اعلى (!) أن السبب
البالغ والموجب ليس يختص بالسماء وإنما يختص بما يغرب عنه الشمس
من الأقاليم فهذا جواب السؤال وكشف الإشكال عن تمامه معه
