In the main, various letters from family and friends:
- (1). Various letters received 1905-42. The earliest letters refer to Henry's education and to his marriage (see letter from Sir John Otter, 11 July 1918) and include character references. Also, two typed copy memoranda (1942) regarding Henry Self representing the Ministry of Defence in Washington: 'Term of "Permanent Under Secretary" not thought appropriate, but Self will be given rank of head of a first-class Department.' With two business cards, one of which is for Sir Henry as 'British Representative, Combined Production and Resources Board, Washington D.C.'
- (2). Various letters 1970-75. Includes a letter (4 Aug 1971) from Lord Citrine (colleague at the Electricity Authority).
- (3). Eight letters (1972-75) from Tom Childs. His first letter (10 Jan 1972) encloses photocopied typed extracts (11 sheets) from his war diary: 'I found recently my long lost War Diary covering bits and pieces of the War including our trip to England in 1944.' The verso of an airmail envelope has been annotated by Lady Audrey Self with information about Childs.
