Paper: Russian machine made paper without labels. (f. 1-14, 27-40) and Russian handmade paper with filigrees: a) circle[?] or coat of arms[?] or shield [?] under a crown and letters "ЕГЛ" on the bottom; the image within the circle is not found in the available reference books (f. 93-100); b) letters "КГ" or "КФ" and the white date "1829" (f. 15-26, 41-92).
Writing style: half-uncial script by several hands. Cyrillic numeric pagination (scribers’).
Decoration: headings and initials with vermilion; initial with floral ornament (f.93, 98-100); end-piece in the so-called style Playing Text [игра текстом] – triangle-shaped objects and floral ornament (f. 37); end-piece in the so-called style Playing Text [игра текстом] – triangle-shaped objects and schematic pictire (f. 92). The manuscript doesn’t have a beginning and an ending, it includes texts written in the 19th century: the Canon to The Appearance of Our Lady of Kazan, paroemias for Marian feast days, the Canon to The burning bush, church hymns for Holy and Great Saturday, service for The Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God; the text written in the 18th century – a service for The Appearance of Our Lady of Kazan with the stolp notation. The stolp notation was developed as a refinement of the Byzantine notation and it is not written with notes (the so-called linear notation). This notation system records transitions of the melody, rather than notes. The signs (kryuki /крюки, “hooks”) represent a mood and a gradation of how this part of melody is to be sung (tempo, strength, devotion, meekness, etc.). Binding: 2nd half of the 18 century; wooden binding, leather with tooling, 2 metal bosses, fragments of 2 clasps. The book block was put in the binding (a note from the 19th century written in cursive is on the lower case – “This Canonnik [belongs to] cell’s ino [blot] Anastasia the monk” [«Сей Канонник обители ино [blot] схимницы Афанасии»]. Manuscript-sammelband is compiled from texts written in the mid 18th century, the 2nd quarter of the 19th century and the 2nd half of the 19th century
8º, (size of book block –165 mm x105 mm, binding size - 177 mm x 108 mm, binding height – 28 mm); 100 f. = f. 1-26 (2nd quarter of the 19 century) + 27-40 (2nd half of the 19 century) + 41-92 (2nd quarter of the 19 century) + 93-100 (mid 18 century); Condition: satisfactory. The manuscript was acquired [supposedly] by the community of Old believers-pilgrims living in the Tomsk-Chulym taiga.
