Paper: 1) Russian machine-made with the date “1836” (f. 1-30, 46-47), 2) Russian handmade paper of 2 colors with the filigree of the Board of Uglich Manufactures of L.A.Popov’s heirs [Управление Углических фабрик наследников Л.А. Попова], had been made in 1825-1846 (f. 31-45, 48-89). [ref.: Клепиков С.А. Филиграни и штемпели на бумаге русского и иностранного производства XVII-XX вв. М., 1959. № 630]. Writing style: half-uncial script by 2 hands. Cyrillic numeric pagination (scriber’s). Decoration: headings and initials with vermilion, initial with floral ornament (f. 27), end-piece in the so-called style Playing Text [игра текстом] – triangle-shaped objects (f.51, 48, 89).
The manuscript consists of 2 parts – 1) On False Teachers [Слово о лжеучителях] by pseudo-John Chrysostom, On Antichrist by Ephrem the Syrian and an Old Believer essay-compilation on the prohibition of communication with heretics (including eating, drinking, and praying together); 2) eschatological extracts from The New Testament, Acts and Epistles of the Apostles with commentaries, Visions of Gregory, a Disciple of Basil the New [Видения Григория, ученика Василия Нового], Dioptra [Зерцало душезрительное] and Mirror of Theology [Зерцало богословия], essays of Byzantine church writers Theodore Balsamon and Joannes Zonaras, Russian Church writer, Joseph Volotsky, and “Statute on fasting, bows and feast days” [«Устав о постах, поклонах и праздниках»]; extracts about eschatological prophecies and religious rites during the end times. Readers’ notes. The sammelband is compiled from texts written in 1840s - 1850s. 8ᵒ(size of book block- 197 mmх 150 mm; height of book block – 14 mm).; 89 f; Condition: unsatisfactory. The binding is lost. The manuscript was acquired by the community of Old believers-pilgrims living in the Tomsk-Chulym taiga.
