Paper: 1) Russian machine-made paper without labels (f. 1-5, 94-121, 131-247), 2) Russian machine-made paper with stamps of the Lalsk factory of Sum-kin`s heir (?),Vologda Governance, had been made after 1867 [supposedly] (f. 6-24, 122-130), 3) Russian machine-made paper with stamps of the Neva manufacture, Saint Petersburg, had been made in 1854 (f. 25-93), 4) Russian machine-made paper with stamps of the Dal'skii manufacture, location is unknown, had been made in 1850, 1861 (f. 248-262) [ref.: Клепиков С.А. Decoration: headings and initials with vermillion; 2 miniatures of Andrew of Constanti-nople (f. 3, 5); picture of Golgotha with a rhymed text (f. 174-175); headpiece with colored floral ornament (f. 6); initials with floral ornament (f. 158, 161, 165, 171, 176, 198, 205, 215-217, 219, 221-225, 232, 235, 246); end-piece with geometric ornament (f. 262); end-piece in the so-called style Playing Text [игра текстом] – triangle-shaped objects (f. 173). The manuscript contains the Life of Andrew of Constantinople, sermons for Easter Week, Traveller of Jerusalem [Путник Иерусалимский] or Pilgrimage by Daniel the Traveler [Хождение игумена Даниила] – a revised version of the oldest work of the Russian pilgrim literature The Life and Pilgrimage of Abbot Daniel from the Land of Rus [Житие и хождение игумена Даниила из Русской земли] (12th century ), made in the late 18th century- early 19th century, and essay The Apology for Surcease of Sorrow of a Human who is in Trouble, Persecution and Bitterness [Апология во утоление печали человека сущего в беде, гонении и озлоблении] of a Russian church writer and a hierarch, Saint Dimitry of Rostov (1651-1708). Binding: 2nd half of the 17th century, wooden binding, leather with tooling, fragments of 2 clasps. Readers’ notes. 4° (size of book block – 218 mm х 170 mm; binding size – 227 mm х 166 mm; binding height - 50 mm); 265 f; Condition: unsatisfactory.
The manuscript was acquired by the community of Old believers-pilgrims living in the Tomsk-Chulym taiga. The manuscript has traces of old restoration: the binding was replaced, and folios were glued. Date of restoration – early 20th century, place of restoration –Taiga Skit of the Old Believ-ers-pilgrims.
