- Cream envelope dated 23 July 1964, sent from Battersea to Simpson, King Edward VII Hospital, Midhurst, Sussex containing articles by Simpson. Contents: ‘Oh, this grinding comfort!’, [publication unknown but believed to be for a satirical magazine in the vein of Private Eye, Apr 1953], a piece about judges’ salaries, citing recent discussion in The Times. ‘Those facts of life!’, The Spectator [1953]; ‘Prison Visitors and Patrick Campbell’, The Spectator, 25 Nov 1960, reviews of O Rare Hoffnung, Patrick Campbell’s Come Here Till I Tell You and Nicholas Bentley’s A Version of the Truth; and ‘Second Sight’, Time & Tide, 29 Jun 1961, a review of Muriel Spark’s Voices at Play.
