Sotheby’s catalogue 'English Literature and History', describing item 203, a set of correspondence between P.G. Wodehouse and Lord Citrine, 18 Dec 1985 (purchased by James Heinemen), and photocopies of the correspondence (29 letters), 17 Mar 1960 to 20 Jan 1971, and Christmas cards, 1965-1972.
The letters concern Wodehouse's early stories in The Captain, Acton's Feud and its author Frederick Swainson, their health and daily exercises, the plot of Wodehouse's latest Blandings Castle novel, his libel action against the Evening Standard for their defamatory article, the BBC Jeeves TV series, Lord Citrine's books Men and Work and Two Careers, the Jeeves musical, the possibility of public recognition of Wodehouse's literary merits, Tolstoy collection of bound volumes of The Captain, and Wodhouse's latest books.
The file also contain two letters from Harold Wilson to Lord Citrine concerning the possibility of recommending P.G. Wodehouse for a Companion of Honour, 1967-1968, and the sale of the letters, 17 May 1984.
