1, pp. 1˗8: Articles of Capitulation. Print. Dated 17th
and 18th September 1811 and signed by P. A. Agnew,
S. Auchmuty, De Kock, J. W. Janssens. A note, by Lord
Minto, on certain of the articles (also in print) is dated
28th September 1811.
2, pp. 11˗62: Aantooning der Populatie in de Residentie
van Japara en Joana˗˗met verdere bekend stelling van het
Hoorn- en ander Vee˗˗voortbrengzelen &ca opgenomen in den
Jaare 1812. Statistics are given for each village (Dessa or
Kampong) for the several regencies, namely, pp. 12˗20:
Japara; pp. 20˗28: Coedu’s (Kudus); pp. 32˗54: Patty
(Paṭi); pp. 56˗ 60: Ioana (Juwana).
3, pp. 63˗66: Schema van Verdeeling der Residentien
Japara en Joana. . . . The headings are: Naamen en
Rangen; Kampongs, Dorpen, Populatie; Extensie der
Divisien; Limitten; Aanmerkingen. Dated 17en Ju’nij

lator.
7, pp. 77˗80: Translation of Letter from the Sultan of
Palembang to Sir Stamford Raffles. [n.d.] “... We are
much rejoiced to hear that our friend is at Bencoolen . . .”
and other compliments.
8, pp, 81˗114: Account of the Poggies. “The Pogi [Pageh or Pagei] or
Nassau Islands ... are the southernmost of a connected
range of Islands, running parallel to the Western Coast of
Sumatra ... are known to the natives themselves by that
of Laggai Si Kalaggan, or the country of the Kalaggan
people.” Topographical details, dwellings, people, govern-
ment, customs of the people, animals, boats, commerce,
priests, language (a comparative vocabulary is given of
English, Malay, Nias, Batak, Bugis), &c. are dealt with.
The author writes: “Of the character of these Islanders it
would be presumption in me to speak decidedly, considering
the short period that I remained among them.” Some leaves
are missing (pp. 25˗28 of the original paging). The writing
goes from the bottom of one side of a leaf to the bottom of
the other side, so that the volume has to be turned around
for every page read. The author quotes J. Crisp (Asiatic
Researches, Vol. VI, 77, “Account of the Poggy Isles”).
9, pp. 115˗118 (1 sheet, 75 X 52 cm.): Treaty with the
Rajahs of Pulo Nias. In English and Arabic. Seal (6 cm.)
of East India Company intact. Signed by John Prince and
William Jack, and dated Pulo Nias, 31st December 1820.
“The People of Neeass place themselves unconditionally
under the Protection and Authority of the Honorable Company.
… The Chiefs of Neeass engage to prohibit the
