Encyclopaedia of practical astronomy and astronomical instruments by Sharaf al-Din Abū ‘Alī al-Ḥasan ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Marrākushī (شرف الدين أبو علي الحسن بن علي بن عمر المراكشي, fl. second half of the 13th century). The treatise was composed in in the years 1276-82 (see Charette, 2007, p. 740).
The text is divided into four books (فنون), further subdivided variously into sections (أقسام), chapters (أبواب), parts (فصول), propositions (مقدمات), and questions (مسائل). A list of the four books is found on f. 2r:
- Book One: Computational Methods (الفن الأول في الحسابيات, ff. 2r-49r);
- Book Two: The Construction of Instruments (الفن الثاني في وضع الآلات, ff. 49r-188r);
- Book Three: Using Instruments (الفن الثالث في العمل بالآلات, ff. 188r-270r);
- Book Four: Questions (الفن الرابع في مطارحات, ff. 270r-285r).
The copy was completed on 3 Ṣafar 1074/6 September 1663 by Kalb (?) ‘Alī ibn Ṣafarqalī Sāwikh (?) Balāghī (كلب علي بن صفرقلي ساوخ بلاغي, see colophon, f. 283r, transcribed below).
