- Maji Frontier Mission, 1919' - War Office ledger. Created by 'Major L.F.I. Athill R[oyal]. F[ield]. A[rtillery].
- Scope & Content:
-
Sheets numbered 1 to 3, produced as part of an expedition to suppress a border altercation between Abyssinian and Sudanese troops at Kangala in south-eastern Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. Compass traverse covering the 360-mile route from Maji in south-western Abyssinia across the border to Kangala and Losinga to a width of approximately 15 miles. Portrays hydrology, relief by form lines, vegetation, settlements, camps, wells, the international boundary, place names and the expedition route, and includes topographical notes. A compilation note states that the sheets require planimetric adjustment, and relates them to earlier survey work by Major C.W. Gwynn R.E.
On transfer Sheet 1 lacked a small portion of the northern edge, including the location of Maji.
