Material relating to ideas for a film by Terry Jones and Michael Palin (never realised), with working title 'Hell' and 'Explorers I', as follows:
- notebook marked 'TJ/MP Film Nov 1983. The Hell (MP start)', with notes and draft of script for the film, in Palin's handwriting, Nov 1983-1984. Inserted are a few pages with a draft of a script entitled 'Other People', 1984;
- notebook marked 'Film screenplay. Explorers I. Apr 1983/84/85/86', with notes and draft of script for the film, in Palin's handwriting, 1983-1986. Inserted are typescript draft of the script, a letter from the Royal Geographical Society in response to Palin's query about British expeditions to the Artic in 1939, 7 Feb 1986, and a letter from the Bluebell Railway regarding an extension to East Grinstead, 28 Mar 1986;
- loose pages from notebooks with ideas for the film and drafts of script, in Palin's handwriting, Oct 1983-Sept 1986;
- photocopy of H.G. Wells story 'The Man Who Could Work Miracles' from Tales of Space and Time.
