- Title:
- D'Oyly Carte Archive: Ruddigore (Vocal scores and libretti)
- Scope & Content:
-
(1). Annotated vocal score, formerly owned by George W. Lingard (signature on title-page). Donated by R. A. Beland (25 Jan 2002 - slip attached to inside front cover). Two brief letters to Lingard (24 and 25 Jul 1907) pasted to front fly-leaf from F[rançois] Cellier and from George Harris, both indicating that Ruddigore does not require a 'curtain-raiser'. In addition to annotation in blue ink (referring to instruments rather than to voices) typed dialogue is pasted-in throughout.
(2). Vocal score formerly owned by Leslie Rands, with his annotations throughout in pencil. Ownership signature of Marjorie Eyre and Leslie Rands on front fly-leaf. Also noted: volume presented to D'Oyly Carte Opera Co. by their son, Ian Rands (24 Aug 1988).
(3). Four annotated libretti: two formerly owned by Leslie Rands and by Marjorie Flinn; also, two libretti with cuts marked (no ownership signatures). One unannotated libretto, formerly owner by W. H. Rands and labelled on the front cover 'Chichester Amateurs'.
