Letters and telegrams received from Enoch Peterson, Mikhail Rostovtzeff, William Matthew Flinders Petrie, and Count de Prorok [Byron Khun de Prorok], plus invoices and shipping notices.
Undated letter from Flinders Petrie, thanking Bell for sending details of recently acquired papyri, and commenting on the situation in Palestine.
(1927). Letter from Peterson dated Fayoum, 2 May 1927, regarding the remainder of the papyrus finds from Kom Aushim [Kawm Ūshīm], copies of wall paintings made by Hamzah Carr, and further digging in the areas near the Greenfell and Hunt excavations. Letter from Rostovtzeff dated September 1927, regarding shipping papyri and the dangers of boxes being opened at customs, plus further communications confirming the arrival of papyri.
(1928). Telegrams received from de Prorok and Peterson regarding the destination of flints (eventually sent to the Department of Antiquities, Cairo), plus American Express invoice dated 23 February 1928 for the shipping. Letter from Peterson dated Fayoum, 28 April 1928, thanking Bell for dealing with the flints, reporting on de Prorok's activities, and commenting on rules for the export of papyri issued by the Department of Antiquities. Informs Bell that Michigan will not be exporting any objects from Kom Aushim except papyri. Advises that Admunsen wishes small pieces for Oslo.
(1929). Draft letter by Bell to Peterson, dated 26 January 1929, regarding the trouble concerning Admunsen's buying of papyri, whether Oslo were included in the Purchasing Syndicate, and reporting on feedback on the proposed price tariff.
(1930). Receipt for items received, 17 July 1930, annotated 'Better not mention new leaves at Congress'. Letter from Peterson dated Faryoum, 14 October 1930, regarding photographs of manuscript fragments being offered by a man from 'Upper country'. Attached is a report dated 24 October [by Crum?] commenting on the photographs of the proffered manuscript fragments [psalter, homily, and excommunion]. The remainder of the file consists of receipts for a telegram sent by Bell to Peterson ('Manuscripts good, prices high'), and blank American Express shipping forms.
