Letters received from Harry Bartlett Van Hoesen, Princeton University Library.
(1921). Requesting that Princeton receive details of papyri assigned to other members of the Purchasing Syndicate.
(1922). Informing Bell that Princeton are beginning to put papyri between glass, both recently acquired and those acquired via the Egypt Exploration Fund. Hoesen seeks Bell's comments on the conservation process.
(1924). Regarding Kelsey's purchasing trip. Asks whether the Robert Garrett deposited collection at Princeton Library might be allowed to have a share in future co-operative purchases. Discusses Garrett's plans for collection development. Provides details of Kelsey's criticism of Princeton's publication record. Encloses inventory of the papyri acquired by Princeton from Kelsey. Advises that Professor G A Harrer of North Carolina University is in prospect of purchasing for his institution.
(1925). Letters regarding Princeton's work towards publication of papyri. Agreement that Garret and Princeton Library will contribute $1000 between them for new purchases.
(1926). Sending financial contributions towards Bell's 1926 purchasing trip. Provides details of Garrett's preferences for collection development.
(1927). Thanks Bell for sending updated reports and inventories of papyri purchases and distribution amongst the Purchasing Syndicate. Provides requests for new additions to the Garrett collection. Discusses the death of Francis Kelsey.
(1928). Letter acknowledging Bell's reports on new papyri acquisitions by the Purchasing Syndicate.
The file also contains an excerpt of a letter from Bell to Girolamo Vitelli regarding the possibility of the University of Florence joining the Purchasing Syndicate, plus two postcards and a letter from Vitelli to Bell regarding the proposals, dated February to September 1929 (in Italian).
