2; pp. 261-70 : Sourabaya [=Surabaya], 15 October 1812. Report on [=of] Messrs [J.] Goldback [or Goldbach] & ' [H. M.] Davy on Madura. Copy. Deals briefly with the history of the connexion of the island with the empire of Mataram and the Dutch East India Company, the policy of the latter towards the native chiefs, the attitude of the Madurese and Javanese towards the Dutch and British, population, trade, native administration, suggestions as to its gradual amelioration, and proposed changes in police and revenue administration. The enclosures referred to in this report are not available. On p. 273 there is a reference to an Ancient tomb at Madura “40 feet long on the W side.”
3, pp. 277-8: Sumanap [=Sumĕnĕp], 26 June 1805. Of the Descent of the Princes of Madura by Mr Leschenault de Latour. Letter to the Governor [of Eastern Java] enclosing 4 infra, also mentioning a vegetable wax tree (Pohon Malot) and two antique granite statues (2 X 2 1/2 ft.) of seated women found near the village of Kiandi [=Chaṇḍi?], Pamĕkasan, &c. For another copy, see 82. 8 infra. Translated from the French of Mack. Class XIV, 24 (c).

Succession of the Princes of Madura from Lamboupatan [=Lembu-pĕttĕng] son of Provindhiohio [=Brawijaya] the last King of Madjopahet [=Majapahit] to above date. For another Copy, see 82. 9 infra. Translated from the French of Mack. Class XIV 24 (a). Communicated by Leschenault de latour; contains a brief account of the succession of these chiefs, also refererices to and corrections of the author's "Chronological View on the Island of Java." For a much fuller account see Geschiedenis van het Madoereesche Vorstenhuis in Tijdschr. v. Ind. Taal-,' Land- en Volkenkunde (1871) ; Deel XX,. pp. 244 seqq.

Class XIV, 24 (b). Communicated by Leschenault de Latour; contains a brief account beginning with Tjiaranpenole [?], son-in-law of Provindhiohio [=Brawijaya] the Fourth.
6, pp. 285-9: 13 January 1780. Treaty or Contract of the Panambahan dipatty Tjacra [=Pandmbahan Adipati Chakra] Diningrat of Madura with the Governor of the N.E. Coast of Java the Heer vander Burgh on behalf of the Governor-General for the Dutch East India Company on the 13th January 1780. Copy. A fragment containing 16 articles, the last one unfinished. Recites the cession of 6 Madura by the Susuhunan to the Company by the treaty of 11 November 1743, and contains the acknowledgment of the Regent that he holds the regency of Madura from the Company on the usual terms of feudal vassalage customary in their East Indian possessions. Presumably translated from the Dutch.
7, pp. 293-4: Samarang [=Sĕmarang], 13 June 1780. Translationof a Deed of Appointment of Mangkoo [=Mangku] Nagara to be 1st Bepatty [=Bupati] to the Panumbaham [=Panĕmbahan] of Madura. In the body of the document the appointee is called Mangoe Nagara. The appointment was made by the Governor of Eastern Java. Presumably translated from the Dutch.
8, pp. 295-6: Bancallang [=Bangkalan], 26 August 1781. Translation of a Capitulation of a Captain of Madurese Soldiers, His Officers & Company. Contains their conditions of service and the rate of pay for the several ranks, from 20 rixdollars a month for the Captain to 4 1/2 for a private, besides 40 lbs. of rice and 3 lbs. of salt.
9, pp. 297-8: Sumanap [=Sumĕnĕp], 23 October 1812. Report of Captain [R. C.] Garnham on Samanap[=Sumĕnĕp]. Copy. Letter from the Resident, Sumenep, to Charles Assey, Assistant Secretary to the Government of Java, in reply to enquiries as to the historical connexion of the territory with Java, the revenue and expenditure of the regent and the state of cultivation, &c. Only refers to enclosed documents which have not been copied.
