Miscellaneous Accounts (P.Lond. IV 1416A-G, TM 19861-19867)
- Scope & Content:
-
Recto:
- End of a column containing figures and followed by blank space;
- (P.Lond. 1416A = TM 19863) Account concerning money taxes, of which the last lines and the total are lost. There is one introductory line under which several columns are arranged, mentioning names of places and various sums of money, such as tax quotas and deductions followed by the total of deductions and the remainder. Written along the fibres and dated to 732-733.
- Detached fragment (P.Lond. 1416B = TM 19862): written on one side along the fibres, part of a similar account concerning naval expenditures.
Verso:
- Lines 1-4 (P.Lond. 1416C = TM 19863): written along the fibres; presumably register of miscellaneous expenses related to book-keeping, but no sums of money are mentioned. Incomplete and written by a second hand.
- Lines 5-18 (P.Lond. 1416D = TM 19864), written along the fibres by a third hand and concerning land-taxes. Some places are mentioned, followed by the names of the tax-payers with the amount of their holdings and the sum to pay.
- Lines 19-28 (P.Lond. 1416E = TM 19865): written along the fibres, perhaps by the second hand; account concerning naval requisitions.
- Lines 29-30 (P.Lond. 1416F = TM 19866): written along the fibres presumably by a fourth hand, containing the beginning of a register of requisitions.
-Lines 31-41 (P.Lond. 1416G = TM 19867): written across the fibres, possibly by the same hand as the recto, and arranged in columns. The beginning is lost, but presumably concerning taxes. The last line contains two dates, i.e. Thoth 21 and Phaophi 12, with sums of money for each date and the total.
- Lines 42-end (P.Lond. 1416F = TM 19866): written along the fibres, presumably by the fourth hand; continuation of the account started in lines 29-30 and containing a register of requisitions with date, purpose and proportions of the distribution of the taxes in various places.
