Translated from the Original Dutch Accounts furnished from the Accountant Gen(ls) Office at Batavia by Lucius Rawdon Burke for [Mackenzie]. All copies, from originals signed by J. G. Bauer, Accountant. Dutch originals of most of the contents of this volume are in 38 infra, the references to which have been added.

1, p. 5: Batavia, 12 March 1812. Letter from J. G. Bauer, Accountant, to Lieut(t)-Gov(r) T, S. Raffles, enclosing 2 infra.
2, pp. 7-9: Batavia, 12 March 1812. Memorandum of Rice Exported from Batavia to the Dutch Settlements West and East thereof for 5 years [=1783-7 A.D.].
3, pp. 12-13: Batavia, 12 March 1812. For the year 1809. Statement of all such Silver Money & Contingents of Produce which the Regents at Cheribon [=Chirĕbon] and Java are obliged to pay and furnish yearly to Government. " Java " here means the Central and Eastern portions of the island (so far as under Dutch rule), and excludes the Sundanese portion, but includes Madura and its dependencies. The table is arranged by districts and under the different kinds of produce deliverable (e.g., rice, coconut oil, &c.). In some cases the produce was deliverable against payment, in others gratis.
4, pp. 16-17: [Batavia, 23 May 1812.] A similar statement for 1811 and 1812 (see 6 infra). =38. 2 infra.

7, pp. 30-1: Batavia, 26 May 1812. Receipts & Disbursements of Cheribon [=Chirĕbon] in AD 1805/6 & 1806/7 O=or before the arrival of General Daendels. This and the following tables to 11 inclusive, and also 16-23 and 25-40 infra, give the receipts and expenditure of the several districts named for the years stated, with the balance drawn, showing the excess of the former over the latter as the Government's profit (or, in the converse case, loss). The items given in the tables illustrate the system pursued by the Dutch Government of buying produce compulsorily at a low fixed price, and reselling it at a profit which often amounted to 300-400 per cent. =38. 3 infra.
