- Peter Riley joined the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company as Property and Baggage Master in 1964. In 1965 he also became the Assistant Carpenter. In August 1965 he became the Assistant Stage Manager alongside his post as Property and Baggage Master. In 1966 he became the Stage Manager, in 1970 he became the Stage Director, in 1974 he became the Technical and Stage Director, in January 1979 he became the Company Manager and Technical Director. Correspondence between Peter Riley and the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. The correspondence concerns the Company performing in Torquay, sets and scenery, equipment at local theatres whilst touring, costumes, lighting, payments for get-outs, subsistence allowances, rehearsals, projection equipment, transportation, tape, disciplining cast members, dressing rooms, wigs, publicity, fire arms licence, back stage staff, props. The file also includes the rehearsal schedule for the Royal Festival Hall Summer Season 1971.
