Deals mainly with the following matters: p.437 :- The cotton goods trade, its importance and organization; native buyers of cotton cloth for the Dutch Company, their shortcomings, suggestions for improvements in that matter, written contracts to be made with them, payments to them to be in cash, not goods; the Company's current methods of conducting the trade, fluctuation in prices at Sadras, Negapatam, &c., and many other details regarding the management of the trade, the guilds of traders employed in it; some statistics as to its value, &c. ; p.473 : Descriptive particulars regarding the several stations, their history and trade, &c., viz.: Portonovo, Tegenepatnam, Conjemere (an abandoned port), Sadras; p.495 : Alemperwe, Pulicat (in connexion with the last two places there are some particulars as to mints and currency, followed by some remarks on a proposal to mint rupees at Negapatam, and a number of miscellaneous particulars and recommendations relating to general trade, the Negapatam mint, the purchase of rice, &c.); p. 534: Negapatam, historical sketch; rents payable to Tanjore for the suburb of Sjolamandelan [=Coltl̤amaṇḍalam] and ten adjacent villages, &c.
