Accounts of Grains from the Zenon Archive (P.Lond. VII 1995, TM 1557)
- Scope & Content:
-
Accounts of grains put at the disposal of Heraclides, an employee of Apollonius working in the latter’s estate. The accounts, arranged in 15 columns (12 on recto, 3 on verso), cover a period of three years (years 33-35 of Ptolemy II Philadelphus) and are to be compared with those of Papyrus 2360 (P.Lond. VII 1994). A final net total is stated and a balance struck in order show whether Heraclides was in credit or debit overall. The method of accounting income and outgoing of different grains is obtained by converting them into wheat equivalent. With marginal notes and corrections throughout. The papyrus belongs to the archive of Zenon.
