Journal of Guilford Lindsay Edwards, dated 30 Oct 1872 to 26 Feb 1894. Consists of both journal entries and copies of letters received by Edwards. Begins with his leaving Manchester, and his embarkation for India on the 'Strathclyde'. Covers his work as a railway foreman and engineer at Phalera, Agra and Sukkur, and later his position at a Small Arms Factory in Dum Dum in 1882. Includes details of his marriage to Alice Barton in 1879. Later entries refer to Guilford's appointment as a railway engineer in Gorakhpur.

The rear portion of the journal is dated 18 Sep 1878 to 8 Jan 1888 and headed 'India. G.L.M.'s Expedition 1878'. Consists of copies of extracts of letters from Guilford Lindsay Edward's Uncle Guilford Lindsey Molesworth and family, primarily from Simla. Includes pen and ink sketch of crossing a Jula [Jhula or Joolah] bridge across the Sutlej River; coloured ink sketch of walking gear, including riding trousers and over-skirt; pen and ink sketch of umbrella; and pen and ink sketch of Amy Molesworth and Charles Blair setting out on their honeymoon on horseback and by Jampan.

Also loose inserts from journal. They consists of: Poem entitled 'Patience', written while waiting for a train, undated; series of 24 limericks using letters A-W and XYZ, entitled 'Savoy Hotel Mussoorie A.B.C. 1924'; cyanotype showing '1/4 of our drawing room', undated [late 19th or early 20th century]; invitation to services at St Saviour's Church, Sukkur, on the occasion of the first use of the new organ, 24 Nov 1881; two pieces of used blotting paper.
