p. i: Various Memoirs on Affairs of Dutch E. India. [The contents of this volume are all in Dutch.]

1, pp. 1-8: Nagapatnam [=Negapatam], 4 May 1665. Proclamation by Cornelius Speelman, Governor of the Coromandel Coast, and Council, in a preamble and 25 articles, directing the punishment of a variety of criminal offences and derelictions from Military duty. The ordinance is directed to be observed by all persons within the fortified town (of Negapatam) subject to the jurisdiction of the Dutch Company and appears to have been specially aimed at disorders in the garrison. Copy.

2, pp. 9-38: Nagapatnam [=Nĕgapatam], 12 May 1665. Particulier Regulement op het houden der respective boeken binnen deser steede Nagapatnam, daar na sig een ijgelijk, van wiens dienst het is promptelijk zal hebben te reguleeren. Copy. By Cornelius Speelman. Regulations as to the keeping of the Company's books, with particular reference, inter alia, to the accounts of revenue, the books of the garrison, treasury accounts, records of stores, ammunition, &c., Secretariat records, books relating to trading operations, audit, &c.

3, pp. 39-42: Nagapatnam [=Negapatam], 30 April 1665. Ordre en Regulement voor China Tambij Chettij alias Chettij preto, om sig daarna in de administratie van a Comp(s) 10: dorpen en het inkomen des rivier daar na te reguleerden. Copy. By C. Speelman. Instructions for the native superintendent of the Company's villages in his dealings with the village headmen and inhabitants, with rules as to the duties of the headmen. Mainly concerned with the keeping of the lists of inhabitants, the maintenance of irrigation works, and the settlement of minor disputes, serious matters being beyond the native superintendent's competence.

4, pp. 43-50: Nagapatnam [=Negapatam], 30 January 1677. Ampliatie van de vorenstaande Instructie voor den adigaar van's Comp(s) dorpen. Copy. Particular instructions relating to certain named villages, with reference to their several characteristics (such as suitability from the point of view of agriculture, cloth-weaving, &c.), the object of the Company being apparently to develop the industries for which they were respectively most adapted by their several conditions, of site, soil, population and so forth. Supplementary to the preceding regulations.

5, pp. 51-66: Nagapatnam [Negapatam], 28 February 1674. Instructie voor den Oppercoopman Pieter Vorwer en Coopman Thomas van Ree provisioneele opperhoovden der stad en onderhoorige landen van Nagapatnam. Copy. By R. van Goens. On the principles of administration to be followed at Negapatam, with special reference to the encouragement of cotton cloth weaving (as to which a good deal of interesting information is given) and trade; details relating to the garrison, council, and other civil boards and authorities (the names of the members being given in most cases) and their powers and duties; the defence of the town and repression of crime, &c., as well as a number of matters of detail relating to administration, discipline, trade, &c.

6, pp. 67-71: Nagapatnam [=Negapatam], 25 February 1670. Ordres gelaten tot narigt van den Nagapatnamse Commandan door den Gouverneur Antonie Pavilioen bij desselve vertrek in de Zuijdse visite na Tegenepatnam. Copy. Particular instructions on various matters of detail connected with the Company's property and trade at Negapatam.

7, (a) pp. 77-211: Nagapatnam [=Negapatam], 20 February 1744. Memorie tot narigt van den Edelen Heer Galenus Mersen Gouverneur, & Directeur deser Custe Chormandel ingesteld bij den Raad Extraordinaris, en afgaand Gouverneur Jacob Mossel en op Zijn vertrek na Batavia aan voormelde Zijnen vervanger overgegeven. 11, pp. 471-511: Het Chormandels Heijdens Regt. Van de Geslagten Wellale & Chittij. Copy. A summary code of the Hindu law applicable to the above-named castes, by J. Mossel and presumably issued in conjunction with the preceding. It includes (p. 472) a Table of Contents and is divided into sections under special sub-headings, for the nature of which see Mack. Class XIV, 10 (I), which is an English translation of this code.
