Memoir on the state of the Wannische Lands-Ceylon 1793. p. 3: Memorie over den Staat der Wannysche Landen in Naarkoming der G'eerde Order van den wel Edelen Groot Achtbaaren Heer Willem Jacob van de Graaf Raad ordinair van Nederlandsch India Gouverneur en directeur van 't Eyland Ceilon en dies onderhorigheeden Bij Eengebragt en Opgesteld door Ondergeteekenden Landregent [Thomas Nagel]. The matters herein discussed are mainly the following :- p. 5: Meaning of the name " Wannij "; p. 7: Boundaries, subdivisions and area of the territories so named; p. 8: Nature of the soil, economic products, flora, fauna, &c.; p. 10: Population, its origin and history, religion, political institutions, customs, laws and usages, &c.; p. 23: Re-introduction of direct administration by the Dutch Company in 1780, subsequent disturbances, and recent history; p. 30: Particulars as to the Government civil and Military establishments, their cost, Dutch efforts to introduce improvements in various matter's (e.g. water storage for irrigation, and proposals and estimates for various reforms, together with anum ber of financial and other administrative matters); p. 50: Considerations on the civilising effect of the Company's rule and the difficulties standing in the way of further progress in these territories, in relation to agriculture, cattle, the establish ment of plantations and material prosperity in general; p. 69: Importance of the possession of these territories to the Company; p. 77: The writer's proposals for the further improvement of these territories and their administration, including the draft of a scheme of agreement between himself and the Company, whereby he proposed practically to take the district in farm for a period of ten years. Issued by R. van Goens, by ' order of the Governor General and Council of the Dutch East Indies. Mack. Class XIV, 5 (f), q.v., is an English translation.

Estimate of the expenses of starting and maintaining a coffee plantation. Mack. Class XIV, 5 (g) contains an English translation.
5, pp. 115-8: Bijzonderheden nopens de Wannische Landen, getrokken uit eene Memorie van den Kapitain Thomas Nagel, de dato 23. Maij 1793. A number of particulars extracted from 1 supra, of parts of which this is merely a paraphrase. Mack. Class XIV, 5 (d) is an English translation of this abridgment.
