p. i: The title Dutch. Accounts Java &c is misleading. The volume is chiefly concerned with Ceylon and Malabar, and includes the following pieces :-
1, pp. 1, 3-4: Arripo [=Arippu], 5 December 1767. Korte uittreksel der taxatie van de opgedookene Paerel oesters op de Ariposche Paerl Banken. Copy. A statistical table of the results of the pearl fishery. The total catch was 11,000 oysters, yielding pearls valued at 131 (77/230) Madurese fanams. The table is an abstract based on the more detailed one given in 6 infra.
2, pp. 5-28: Korte beschryving van de Landen van Mallabaar [=Malabar] wat, Vorsten en Grooten daar in Regeeren en waar zij haar oorspronk van daan hebben door den Hooft-Tolk Cornelis van Meeckeren opgesteld tot nut der nakomelingen. Presumably a copy. General information about Malabar, its inhabitants, history, geography, political subdivisions, castes and religions, economic productions, &c. In the beginning of this memoir (which was written some time after 1733) the writer deprecates any comparison being made between it and the memoir of Hendrik Adriaan van Rheede (which was written in 1677 and printed in Selections from the Records of the Madras Government. Dutch Records, No. 14, 1911).
3, pp. 29-34: 17(8/26)78. Beantwoording op de vraage betreffende kunsten en handwerken. Copy (?). A series of six questions and the answers thereto, mainly about the crafts and industries of the Sinhalese (especially the Kandyans), dealing in particular with the preparation of saltpetre, sulphur, gunpowder, and leather; and the pairing, gestation, and various kinds, of elephants.
4, pp. 35-7: 17(8/26)78. Van de Vijf Boedoes [=Buddhas] volgens de Singaleezen Geloofs Artikelen en waar van vier reets de wereld afgestorven zijn en de Vijfde als nog verwagt Word. . . . Copy (?). Brief accounts of the five Buddhas, whose names are here given under the forms Kakkoesande [=Kakkusandha], Konagammenenan [=Koṇāgamana], Kaakseppe [=Kassapa], Gauteme [=Gotama], and Maitrinam [=Maitreya].
5, pp. 38-48: Lijste van 179. Monarchen dewelke bezitters waaren des keijserlijken throons van het Eiland Ceilon of / : zedert : / van het kandiasche rijk daar onder ook gerekend de zulken die bij usurpatie, hoewel voor een korten tijd het bestier hebben aangevaard. Copy (?). A chronological list of the Kings of Ceylon, beginning with Wijeraja [=Wijeya Raja], and ending with keertiessrie rajesinge Maharaja [=Kirti Siri Raja Singha], whose reign was in A.D. 1748-78.
6, pp. 50-5: Specificatie van het getal der Oesters in de Visitatie der Paarlbanken in de Maand November [1767] gedooken op eenige banken van Arripo en de Sortementen en Pryswaarde der Paarlen volgens de Schatting der Paarl-Kenners ordinair daar toe gebruikt wordende en genoemd by het Dag-Register agter welke volgd eene korte aanwysing van de gesteldheid der overige Paarlbanken by die occagie meede doorsogt. Copy. A more detailed tabular statement of the same catch whereof 1 supra is an abbreviated table.
