1, pp. 1-3: General List of the general Registers of such book and papers as have been found on an inspection of the archives of the former governments on the 28th of Sept: last by Mess(rs) M. H. W. Muntinghe and W. J. Oranssen, as follows keeping each department separate from the other. The list is a mere abstract, but it comprises papers of various kinds from 1613 to 1809. It includes at the end the headings of Mack. Pr. 71. 1 (a)-(f), q.v. Translated from the Dutch of 67 supra, pp. 5-7.
2, pp. 5-8: Fragment of a list of dockets of papers arranged under local heads (viz., Timor, Banjermassing [=Banjermasin], Palembang, Jamby [=Jambi], China, Siam), and dating, so far as they bear dates, from 1679 to 1797. Begins in the middle of the section relating to Timor, which (together w:ith the next one) is repeated in 4 infra. Translated from the Dutch of 67 supra, pp. 95-100.
3, pp. 9-11 : Consultations. Three indexes of papers connected with a number of different places and headed respectively:- (a) Register of Treaties, orig: papers, &c(a). (b) Register of arrived common letters & annexures. (c) Register of arrived secrets and separate, letters and annexttres. Translated from the Dutch of 57 supra, pp. 7-9.
4, pp. 13-62: General Register ofthe Contracts [=treaties] Memoirs & Reports & of the governors, Commandors et Residents which are in the archives of the government Secretaries office. Arranged under the local headings: Ambaina, Banda, Ternaten [=Ternate], Maccasser, Malacca, Cormandel, Ceilon, the north East coast of Java, Tiinor, Banjermassing [=Banjermasin]. (This last and part of the Timor section is also contained in 2 supra.) Translated from the Dutch of 57 supra, pp. 45-97.
5, pp. 65-72: A list of mainly judicial papers and other objects (such as tools for forging paper money, and specimens of the latter, &c.), apparently found in the Judicial Department, Batavia; the items number 62, and (so far as dated) extend from 1714 to 1797. The list is headed: " In the Secret Cabinet-In the Torture," Perhaps translated from the Dutch.
6, pp. 73-86: Batavia, 14 October 1811. Register of the Archives of the Government that are now present under the headings: Batavia (but this includes matter not local to Batavia); Bantam; Cheribon's Preanger Regentships; Cheribon; Java's North East Coast; Souracarta [=Surakarta] & Djokjacarta [=Jokyakarta]; Java's East Point; Proclamations, & open Acts of the Committee for 1808, 1809, 1810 & 1811 ; Military Papers ; Navy ; Maccassar ; Amboina ; Banda ; Ternate ; Palembang ; Lampongs ; Timor; Banjermassing [=Banjermasin] ; Japan (i.e., the country, not the Javanese district of that name); Canton in China ; Pontiana[k] ; Papers from & to Foreign Nations, from & to Commissaries in Foreign Countries, &(ca); Different letters & Papers, Memoires, &(ca) received ; Speculative Papers ; and also some miscellaneous papers of the year 1811. The others are of various dates, but mainly 1808-10. Copy of an original signed by J. van Boeckhols.
7, pp. 87-8 : Batavia, 14 October 1811. List of Papeers remaining still without disposition from under the former Government. Nineteen items, of a miscellaneous character. Copy of an original signed as the preceding.
8, pp. 89-91; Batavia, February 1812. General Register of the Registers of all Books papers, charts and Plans, transmitted by the different officers of the former Gov(t) of Java, to the Subscribers. A list of the registers of the various departments of Government. Translated from the Dutch, and signed by W. Robison.
9, pp. 93-100: Batavia, 14 February 1812. Register of Such papers as have been sent into the Interior, at the general retreat, in the month of August 1811. and sent back into the former Secretary’s office. Begins with a General Register of the Contracts [i.e. treaties] which were formerly kept in the council Chamber, under the sub-headings Ternaten [=Ternate], Maccasser, Malacca, Banjermassing [=Banjermasin], Palembang, North Eastern Coast of Java, Eastern point of Java, Cheribon, Bantam, Batavia; but also includes a brief list of other documents, legal, administrative, and financial, &c. Translated from the Dutch, and signed as the preceding.
10, pp. 101-8: Register of Papers received from Several Members of the former Supreme Council &(ca). A miscellaneous list of papers received from Messrs. Ysseldyk, Van Hoesen, Parvé, Wardenaar, Romswinkel, Van Son (administrator of sugar stores), and an anonymous person. Translated from the Dutch. 11, p. 109: A page headed General Register, but containing only the dates, without other particulars, of certain items (presumably bundles of documents). For other lists of papers, &c., see 4. 2, 4, 31-4; 57, and 71 supra, 93 I. & II. infra, and Mack; 1822. 18. 4 supra.
