Letter from the governor Qurrah ben Sharik to Basilius, pagarch of Aphrodito, who is to supply money (11 nomismata) for the wage and expenses of an employee for six months of the current indiction; the man is probably working on the mosque of Damascus; dated to the 8th indiction, Hathyr 7; Papyrus 1481 (P.Lond. IV 1411) was presumably sent together with this one.

Script: Cursive hand, sloping to the right and with letters projecting below and above the writing line.

Provenance: Aphrodito, Antaiopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
