Letter from the governor Qurrah ben Sharik containing an order addressed to the inhabitants of Aphrodito to send money (four nomismata) for the wage of an employee working on the mosque of Damascus; it was apparently sent together with Papyrus 1339 (P.Lond. IV 1341) and is dated to 7 Hathyr, 8th (?) indiction.

Dimensions: 120 x 90 mm. Framed in one glass case measuring 175 x 145 mm.
Script: Byzantine minuscule, neat and upright; perhaps the same as Papyrus 1435 and 1464.

Provenance: Aphrodito, Antaiopolite nome, Egypt. Purchased as part of a lot comprising Papyri 1200-1520 from the Reverend Chauncey Murch (b. 1856, d. 1907) on 20 November 1903.
