Contract for lease of around 30 arouras of land in the village of Souris, dated to 8 June 595 and similar to 113(3). The lessees are Aurelius Ioannes and Aurelius Castous, both farmers, and the lessor is Phoebammon, a notary (tabularius) in Arsinoe. The landowner will receive three-fourths of the produce and five-sixths of the hay, but will have to supply the seed and animals and will be responsible for cutting the hay. With autograph signatures and notarial subscription at the end and endorsement on the back. Some of the fragments forming the document (namely those preserving lines 10-13 and the concluding lines) were formerly in the Bodleian Library.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 365 x 210 mm; housed in one glass case measuring 420 x 305 mm.
Script: Different hands, the body of the document being in a neat and upright hand of fair size; more cursive and sloping to the right at the beginning and end of the document; a further hand in the last line.

Origin: Krokodilopolis, Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased with the other papyri housed in the frames labelled as Papyrus 113.2- Papyrus 113.17 from the Reverend Greville John Chester (b. 1830, d. 1892) on 13 July 1878. The fragments preserving lines 10-13 and the concluding lines were formerly in the Bodleian Library and were acquired by the British Museum in 1896.
