Parts of leases of houses or rooms in Arsinoe.
Upper fragment on the left-hand side (P.Lond. I 113.5(a), TM 41022): Beginning of a lease of a house in Arsinoe, the lessor being Flavius Plutammon, from the military unit of the Transtigritani, and the lessee Aurelius Thomas. Dated to 23 March 498, with endorsement on the back.
Upper fragment on the right-hand side (P.Lond. I 113.5(b), TM 41023): Beginning of a lease of a room in a house located in the ‘amphodon Gymnasiou’, a quarter of Arsinoe; the lessees are Aurelius Sambas and Aurelius Cosmas, coming from different quarters of Arsinoe, and the lessor, whose name is partially lost, was a keeper of the public granaries. With endorsement on the back and dated to 31 January 543 or 558, the consul being Flavius Basilius.
Lower fragment in two parts (P.Lond. I 113.5(c)+ BL I 237, TM 41024): Beginning of a lease, dated to 8 August 600, the lessor being Flavius Strategius Paneuphemos, pagarch of the Arsinoite and Theodosiopolite nomes, and the lessees Aurelius Onnophris, Abramus and Phoebammon, from the village of Psineuris in the Arsinoite nome. With endorsement on the back. The document consists of two fragments, one of which formerly in the Bodleian Library, then acquired by the British Museum, and preserving lines 8-12. The text belongs to the archive of Fl. Strategius Paneuphemos (TM Arch ID 266).

Dimensions: 113.5(a): 140 x 125 mm; 113.5(b): 140 x 100 mm; 113.5(c): 185 x 170 mm; housed in one glass frame measuring 420 x 305 mm.
Script: 113.5(a): upright and fairly regular semi-cursive; 113.5(b-c): fairly sized sloping hands, more cursive.

- Origin: Krokodilopolis, Arsinoite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased with the other papyri housed in the frames labelled as Papyrus 113.1- Papyrus 113.17 from the Reverend Greville John Chester (b. 1830, d. 1892) on 13 July 1878. The lower fragment forming Papyrus 113.5(c) was formerly in the Bodleian Library.
