The book contains correspondence sent to the President of the Province (Presidente da Província) in 1860. It includes: request to investigate murders in Pombal and Piancó; Alhandra's Assistant Deputy (subdelegado) sending recruits and deserters to the Capital's Headquarters ("Quartel de Linha da Capital") and requesting payment of the escort; law graduate (bacharel) José Marques Camacho's appointment to the post of Judge in the parish of Pombal; prisoners accused of stealing slaves; prisoners' escape from the capital city's jail; protection of the native populations; slave arrested for suspect robbery and assault. Chiefs of Police: Manoel Clemetino Carneiro da Cunha and Francisco de Assis Pereira Rocha.
