The book contains Paraíba's Secretary of Police's ordinances and instructions from 1863 to 1868, recorded according to the powers of the provincial capital's prison officer ("carcereiro").Documents were issued by Secretary Thomas d’Aquino Mindêlo and signed by Chief of Police Antonio Joaquim Buarque de Nazareth. It includes: information on transfer and release of prisoners; arrest of deserters to be sent to the Battalion's Command; rearrangement of troops; arrest of slaves for different crimes and infractions; among others.
