A piece from the novel about the legendary pharaoh Sesonchosis, an ideal king and world conqueror, recounting some warfare between the Egyptians and the Arabs, the latter being disastrously defeated. A small fraction of survivors able to flee consisted of the contingent of Webelis, an Arabian leader. Egyptians strengthened their border with Arabia against a possible invasion by Webelis.

Six joining papyrus fragments of varying size from a papyrus roll, written on one side along the fibres and preserving 28 lines from a bottom of a column; broken at the top, the lower margin being 4.5 cm and the side margins surviving to 2 cm. The average number of letters per line is 24. Traces of adjoining columns can be seen at either side. Another fragment from the same roll is P.Oxy. LXXXI 5262 (Sackler Library, inv. no. 102/24(a)), which preserves 13 lines written by the same hand. Debated whether also P.Oxy. XLVII 3319 belongs to the same roll. Damaged by wormholes throughout; housed in one glass case.

Script: Formal Mixed style, inconsistently ornamented, sloping to the right. The scribe is Oxyrhynchus Scribe A33 (see Johnson, Bookrolls and Scribes, pp. 27-29).
