Letters written by Richard James Church and Christine Church to their young children staying with relatives in Ealing, London, while they were away in West Africa, where Richard Church was working in railways. The letters were written during two separate stays in Gold Coast, 1915-1916, and Togoland, 1917 [Ghana and Togo].
