4, p. 25 (31 x 18.5 cm.). The Names of the Provinces under 3 Nizams belonging to Delly. Copy. Re-copied in I. 26. According to this paper the M ughal Empire was divided into three Provinces: (1) The Deccan under Aurangabad, containing six Subahs; (2) Indostan under Cabul, seven Subahs; (3) Avad, seven Subahs. Aurangabad and Cabul were separate Subahs. If thearrangement laid down in this paper had been strictly followed then the Mughal empire would have consisted of three provinces ruled by Nizams each Province divided into Subahs, governed by Subahdars, and each Subah divided under smaller rulers, such as Nawabs, Rajas, &c., but this arrangement does not seem to have ever been prevalent throughout the whole of India. The title of Nizam has become hereditary in the family ruling Haidarabad, and the title of Subahdars has become practically a military designation.
