This book was given by a Mughal General to the Muhammadan Governor of Surat, by him to Mr. J. Fraser (author of Nadir Shah), by him to Mr. John Cleland. by him to the poet Alexander Pope, and by him to the Bodleian Library in 1737. See 168. 7.

13, pp. 75-76 22.7 x 18 cm.). Enquiries concerning the capture of Gingee. Copy. According to the Index this refers to the year 1760, but from the statement that Orme's correspondent gained possession of the Great Mountain on the 5th Apdl, the date is 1761, and the letter is probably addressed to Captain Stephen Smith. (See Orme's History, III. 733.) See also 27. 2 (1), (2) and 31. 19 above for Smith's account of this affair.

(2) pp. 83-90 (22 x 18 cm.). Bombay Consultations, 24th March to 21st April 1761. Extracts from the Official Records regarding the reduction of "Mehee," "Nelliseram," &c.

Refers to events in 1748-9 not dealt with in his History, but evidently intended to form part of that work. (2) pp. 125-144 (22.5 x 18 cm.). Another attempt at the same from Anquetil de Perron's account. Very imperfect. Copy.
