Sketches relating to: 'Yan Tan Tethera', a one act 'mechanical pastorale' with text by Tony Harrison. Completed 1984, premiered 1986 by the London Sinfonietta; and 'Monodrama', text by Stephen Pruslin, premiered 1967 by the Pierrot Players. The work was subsequently withdrawn by the composer.
(1). ff.1-13. Assorted jottings, workings, and notes for 'Yan Tan Tethera'. Various written instructions (eg. for ‘a stylized sheep’s ‘baa’’).
(2). ff.14-15. Sketch of ‘Interstice IV’ for clarinet solo, from 'Monodrama'. Signed and dated by the composer: ‘Princeton USA, c.67’.
