- Private Letter from Python to Zenon Concerning the Granting of a Loan (P.Lond. VII 1944, TM 1509)
- Scope & Content:
- Letter from Python, director of the tax office at Athribis, to Zenon, to inform him that he has paid to his agent Theodorus the requested 1000 drachmae for the purchase of donkeys. The back contains a short summary of the letter with the date of reception and, in larger letters, the name of the addressee.

- Joining fragments of a light-brown papyrus sheet; the one containing the ends of the line was acquired later. Written on both sides with the text running across the fibres on the recto and along the fibres on the verso; well-preserved apart from a few holes, the largest of which is at the joint of the fragments and affects the first three lines. Mounted in a glass case.

Materials: Papyrus.
Dimensions: 128 x 310 mm, mounted in a glass case measuring 180 x 355 mm.
Script: Large, elegant hand, resembling the most common chancery hands encountered in the Zenon archive (‘cancelleresca alessandrina’).

Origin: Athribis (?), Athribite nome, Egypt.
Provenance: Philadelpheia, meris of Herakleides, Arsinoite nome, Egypt. Purchased with a lot comprising Papyri 2652-2721 from Dr. A. N. Kondilios in July 1925. Part of a joint purchase with the University of Michigan and Columbia University. The fragment preserving the ends of the line was acquired in 1926.
