File relates primarily to the first volume The Journals of Captain Cook on his Voyages of Discovery: The Voyage of the Endeavour 1768-1771 edited by J.C. Beaglehole (Cambridge: 1955).

Also includes bundle of 'letters to periodicals & answers', which were a result of letters to in the press publicising the project to publish Cook's Journals, and asking for information about relevant materials in private ownership. Letters appeared in The Times, The Times Literary Supplement, The Observer, The Spectator,The Manchester Guardian,The Yorkshire Post, The Birmingham Post, & The Scotsman.
