Top papyrus (Papyrus 1687a, P.Lond. V 1739, TM 38843, TM 39666): A seventh- or eighth-century receipt for land-tax (δημόσια) and poll-tax (διάγραφον) of the fourth indiction issued to Abba Iustus, the notary. The text is signed by Taurinus and Severus. On the other side there are two fragmentary lines of a letter in Greek.
Bottom papyrus (Papyrus 1687b, P. Lond. V 1805, TM 35260): A fifth- or sixth-century order addressed to Silvanus to pay the assistant Asclepiades 15 artabas of wheat on account of an attendant.

Top papyrus (Papyrus 1687a): Small papyrus sheet, written on both sides.
Bottom papyrus (Papyrus 1687b): Papyrus sheet, with a few gaps throughout; writing is on one side across the fibres.

Dimensions: Papyrus 1687a: 80 x 117 mm; Papyrus 1687b: 51 x 270 mm. Housed in a glass case measuring 185 x 310 mm.
Script: Papyrus 1687a: Sloping minuscule hand. Other side: Sloping cursive. Papyrus 1687b: Large, straggling and broken cursive. Perhaps a second hand wrote the final greetings in line 4.
