Covers a military camp and nearby village approximately 30 miles south-west of Tientsin (天津). Shows hydrology with embankments, roads, paths and telegraph lines, and settlements with buildings in outline. A table of reference relates to the layout and garrison of the military camp as at May, 1903. Place-names are given in Wade-Giles romanization.
Two cross-sections are inset: 'Approximate Section of Wall Surrounding Ma-ch'ang Camp' vertical scale 1:240; and 'Approximate Section of Military Canal Ma-ch'ang to Hsiao Chan [小佔] and Ta-ku [大沽]' horizontal scale 1:600, vertical scale 1:120.
