(1). 'The Victorian Churchyard, St Andrew's, Fairlight'. Booklet published 1998 following the clearing of the over-grown churchyard: 'As clearing progressed it became apparent that some important personages, from Hastings and beyond, were buried there'. See p. 2: 'Just inside, to the right of the western entrance to the Churchyard are the graves of Richard Carte and his wife Eliza of Dartmouth Park Road, London. They were the parents of Richard D'Oyly Carte.' Further biographical information follows in the booklet. Together with a single manuscript folio, in a Victorian hand, referring to Eliza Carte.
(2). Dated letters (1872-1883) from Eliza Carte to her daughter Eiza Carte. With a few notes on blue paper in the hand of Bridget D'Oyly Carte.
(3). Undated letters from the same period, from Eliza Carte to her daughter Eliza Carte. Also with some notes on blue paper in the hand of Bridget D'Oyly Carte.
(4). Three items:
- 31 July 1879. On paper headed 'Endowed School for Girls, Stamford', a letter to 'Miss Carte' referring to her 'leaving'. Letter signed by all members of the class.
- A brief family tree (1 small sheet) beginning with John Thorowgood died 1734 and Bridget Sampson died Dec 21 1684, ending with Rev Thomas and Marianne Jones: 'Richard D'Oyly Carte is [their] grandson'.
- Envelope front, stamped and addressed to 'Miss Rose Carte' (1879), with letter fragment written on the verso.
(5). Autograph letter from Susan L. Holl (11 Nov 1984) addressed to Bridget D'Oyly Carte enquiring about the whereabouts of her cousin Edith Coulson. 'She was born in 1888 and was the daughter of Rose Carte, sister of Richard D'Oyly Carte'. With a copy typed reply (20 Nov 1984) and a note giving an address in Truro.
