A thin folio volume, intitled thus at the commencement ‘Breviarium Recordorum Regiorum in Capella Rotulorum et in Turri Londinensi remanentium, de Maneriis, Terris, et Tenementis in Com. Derb. collect. per Nathan Ringros, Gen:’, but containing also collections from various other sources towards the history of Derbyshire, made or copied by Mr Wolley, viz.:
1. The extracts made by Mr Ringros from the records in the Rolls Chapel and Tower, with an index of names of persons and places. pp. 1-113.
2. Extracts from various records relating to the Manors and lands of Tidswell, Dalbury, Ilkeston, Holmesfield, Hourne [Hoon], Hoggeston-Hall, Brakenfield, Wheatcroft, Willington, Bakewell, Staveley, Woodthorpe, Netherthorpe, Hanley, Chesterfield, Brampton, Nether Shatton, Derwent, etc. At the end is this note by Mr Wolley: ‘Mem. All the preceding extracts were copied from a MS Book, formerly the property of Sir Jno. Statham of Wigwall, Knt. which was lent me by Mr Jas. Mander, of Bakewell, Atty at Law. ao. 1790’. pp. 114-117.
3. References to records concerning property in Derbyshire, with the names of the places and possessors, from Henry III to Edward IV, copies from the collections of John Sudbury of Alfreton. pp. 118-123.
4. Extracts from various inquisitions taken at Newark, Nottinghamshire, 19. Hen. VII, relating to the Manor of Lookow, Alfreton, etc., Derbyshire, and Langwith Basset, Nottinghamshire, with a notice of the lands held by Humfrey Stafford in Derbyshire; from the same collections. pp. 124, 125.
5. Remarks on the returns of the gentry of England (see Fuller’s Worthies) made in consequence of an Act of Parliament 12. Hen. VI, with a copy of the Return for Derbyshire. pp. 126-132.
6. List of Sheriffs for the County of Derby from 1140 to 1825, with their arms etc., chiefly copied out of Fuller, with additions and emendations by John Reynolds, of Plaistow, and Mr Wolley; particularly of the Under-Sheriffs from 1766 to 1817. pp. 133-163.
