Small quarto volume, chiefly written by William Pennifather, clerk, Rector of Draycott, Staffordshire, in the reigns of Elizabeth and King James I, containing copies of Proceedings in the Ecclesiastical Court, relative to the tithe cause of Draycott; with additions by Mr Wolley, of the opinions of special pleaders on various points and cases of law.
1. Circular letter, by order of the Archbishop of Canterbury, from Robert Sutton, official of Stafford, to the Minister of Draycott, respecting the observance of divine service by the parishioners, and keeping lists of defaulters. Dat. 28 January 1583. f. 1.
2. Letter from J. Taylor, official of Stafford, addressed as before, commanding them to excommunicate persons publickly. Dat. Eavershall, 30 October 1592. f. 1b.
3. Copy of letters from the Archbishop of Canterbury, reciting those of King James I, commanding a collection to be made for Geneva. Dat. Croydon, 26 October 1603. f. 2.
