11. Letter from the Earl of Bute to Mr. Mitchell. Enclosing copies of further papers between Mr. Pitt and the Duke of Choiseul. Mr. Mitchell is directed to discover the King of Prussia’s real sentiments on this affair. The King thinks a proposal of a general armistice would be injurious to his interests, with respect to the subsidy to be granted to His Prussian Majesty, in case of a separate peace with France, no resolution can be formed until the conditions of peace are known. The Prussian Ministers have solicited a meeting of the Privy Council to concert with them the instructions to be given to the Ministers Plenipotentiary of the two crowns. They are desired to write to their master, the King of Prussia, on this subject. (Chiefly in cypher). Dated Whitehall, 28 April 1761. (folio 53)
