(1). Eliza Carte ('EC') to her son, Henry. 1 bifolium (pink paper). Undated. With two envelopes addressed to H. W. Carte and to Henry Carte at Palmerston Villa, Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Envelopes franked Jan and Aug 1883.
(2). Eliza Carte ('EC') to her son, Henry. Two letters. 1 bifolium (dated 'Monday'), and a second letter on a single sheet (no date). With a single envelope addressed to H. W. Carte in Pangbourne, franked 26 Aug 1884.
(3). Letter fragment (1 sheet, no date, no envelope). Appears to be in the hand of Eliza Carte (beginning: 'Father desires me to say that he thinks very much of Snelson').
(4). Eliza Carte ('EC') to Eliza (her daughter). No date, 1 small bifolium. No envelope.
(5). Lucas Carte to Eliza [Carte], his aunt. From Reigate, dated 25 July 188[last digit illegible]. 1 bifolium.
(6). Blanche Carte. Four letters to her son, Lucas:

(7). Letters to Richard D'Oyly Carte:
- 1 May 1887, 'Comedy Theatre' letterhead, from Charles N. Hawkes(?), requesting permission for Mr Williamson(?) 'to play in a matinee May 9th'.
- 1 June 1890, from Marion Terry, requesting 'a box for myself for the Savoy for Friday night'.
- 29 Aug 189-. Signature illegible. Requesting 'two seats for your matinee of Saturday next'.
- No date, 28 Dorset Square, from 'Gee Gee'. Requesting time off 'to get up strength for rehearsals for new opera'.
- 31 July (no year given). Fountain Court, Temple, from a Barrister at Law (surname, Hall): ' I have just found amongst some old things of mine a collection of 28 Japanese daggers some of them very nice - I was reminded of their existence by seeing The Mikado - If you care to have them I should be glad to sell them to you at a very reasonable price as I have no use for them.'
- [c. 1890]. A letter not addressed to Richard D'Oyly Carte but belonging to this period. It is from the soprano Leonora Braham offering practical advice to Helen Wright, who was appearing as Yum-Yum in the first amateur production of The Mikado, in Glasgow. Braham will meet her 'on the stage, Royalty Theatre on Thursday next at 2 p.m. Miss Wright would do well to bring small paper fan, and if possible Japanese gown and sandals - also book of words and the music of Yum-Yum - or indeed all the music of scenes wherein Yum-Yum appears.' The letter is accompanied by correspondence (1975) between Helen Wright's daughter, who donated the letter to the archive, and Albert Truelove, Company Secretary.

- 12 Oct 1909. Phillips & Page, Music Publishers, to Helen Carte, in reply to her enquiry if Phillips & Page still publish Mr Jericho (1 sheet).
- 22 Apr 1910 (franking date). Postcard from Sir Francis Burnand to Helen Carte: 'Many thanks for delightful letter. As to The Chieftain or anything else with which I may happen to be connected I leave it entirely in your hands.'
- 27 and 30 Oct 1910. Two letters (2 bifolia) to Helen Carte sent from 31 Addison Road, Kensington (correspondent's name illegible) referring to the curtain-raiser Weather or No (by Adrian Ross, William Beach, and Luard Selby).
- Five letters (5 bifolia, most dated 1910) from Basil Hood to Helen Carte, referring to The Rose of Persia.
- 23 Jan (year not indicated), Harriet E. Cellier (widow of Alfred Cellier) to Helen Carte. 'I must thank you for the Carp band parts. I wish some of the amateurs would do short pieces.'

- 23 Dec 1903, from Sydney Grundy. Receipt for £22 in respect of Haddon Hall at Ipswich. 'I shall be extremely obliged if you will continue to look after Haddon Hall & The Vicar of Bray as Mrs Carte did'. (1 bifolium)
- 1 Mar 1916. War Office letterhead, from Basil Hood. 'Would you have any objection to my using the story of The Rose of Persia to make a "Cinema" production?' (1 bifolium)
- 1 Apr 1919, from the publishers Boosey, confirming that a notice appears on the title page of The Chieftain stating that application for permission to perform 'must be made to you'. (1 sheet)
- 17 Jul 1919, from The Manor House, Brightlingsea. Herbert [Sullivan] to Rupert. 'What he is after is to get the scenario for nothing but I demand my pound of flesh!' (1 sheet)
- 1 Oct 1919, Grim's Dyke, Harrow Weald. From Lucy Gilbert: 'I do feel so strongly that every thing possible has been done & that the production is perfect in every respect, both for eye & ear'. (1 bifolium)
- 29 Jan 1920, from Herbert ('Bertie') Sullivan. 'I will see Burnand [i.e. F.C. Burnand's son] with reference to Cox & Box. I do not know whether he will agree to give up all rights [...].' (1 sheet)
- 21 Apr 1920. C. H. Burnand to Bertie [Sullivan]. Regarding Cox and Box. 'Perhaps I had better confer with my father's Solicitor'. (1 bifolium)
- 16 Dec. 1920, from C. H. Burnand, who has been advised by his solicitor that he 'may now enter an agreement on the lines suggested'. He encloses a draft agreement for consideration - agreement is not present with letter. (1 sheet)
- 17 Dec 1920. Typed copy letter from [Rupert D'Oyly Carte] to C. H. Burnand. 'I have also been making further enquiries and have found an important point in connection with Mr Sullivan's Rights'. Richard Collet (Company Manager) is to see Burnand's solicitor to discuss. (1 sheet)
- 21 Sep (year not given), Norton, Dartmouth. Elena Sullivan to Mr Collet, thanking him for 'the three boxes of music'. She is sorry to say that 'Bertie is laid up or he would have written himself'. (1 bifolium)
- 22 Jun 1925. Brief typed business letter from George Dance, 48 Leicester Square. 'I thank you for sending me the letter you have received with reference to amateur performance of The Nautch Girl.' (1 sheet)
- 19 and 22 Oct 1925. Two letters from Jessie Bond enquiring after the date of the next auditions. 'I have a friend, by name John Lloyd, who is anxious to get in to one of your companies.' (2 sheets)
