The deposition of Lord Pigot, and the King of Tanjore's affairs
- Scope & Content:
-
[i] Contents.1, pp. 1-21 (roughly 23 x 18.5 cm.). Letters from A. Dalrymple to R. Orme, dating from 8th Sept. 1775 to 12 Dec. 1777. Originals. All except the first, which is dated the Cape, are dated from Fort St. George. In the letter of the 16th Feb. 1776, Dalrymple gives some information regarding the difficulties which had arisen in regard to the restoration of Tanjore to the King of that country.
2, pp. 25-235 (various sizes). Papers respecting the deposition of Lord Pigot by the majority of his Council, and the King of Tanjore's affairs. Copies of official proceedings. Probably sent to Orme by A. Dalrymple, one of Lord Pigot's friends, and a member of the minority of the Council which supported him, or else by the Smiths (Richard and Joseph), as the papers include certain private letters to them from Charles Floyer, a member of the majority which deposed Lord Pigot.
