1, pp. 1-7 (32 x 19.2 cm.). A letter from Coja Ashruph to Omichund from Patna concerrning Mr. Pearkes’ conduct and Saltpetre. Copy. This letter, written during Eyre Coote's stay in Patna when pursuing the French detachment under Jean Law in 1757 is a complaint of ill-treatment by the Company's Agent, Mr. Pearkes.
2, pp. 9-10 (32x19.2 cm.). Extract of Bengal Consultations, dated the 1st December 1757. Complaint by Mr. Scrafton that Mr. Pearkes misunderstands the position of "Coja Ashroff," who is Omichand's Agent for Saltpetre.
3, pp. 13-18 (30.5x18 cm.). Mernorial of Surgeon James Ellis. A curious paper, one half of each page being apparently a rough draft in the hand of the Memoralist, and the other half a revised draft. It gives an account of his career from 1758 to 1774.
4, pp. 21-29 (31.8 x 20 cm.). Letter, dated Camp Midnapore, 30th Aug. 1780, from [Captain] Samuel Kirkpatrick to Colonel [Alexander] Champion. Original. Gives some details of Captain William Popham's expedition against the Marathas and capture of Gwalior, Warren Hastings' duel with Sir Philip Francis, and the absconding of John Carmichael, Paymaster to the garrison of Fort William, with ten lakhs of rupees.
5, pp. 33-38 (37.5 x 24 cm.). Letter, dated Calcutta, 30th Nov. 1781, from Colonel Giles Stibbert to Robert Orme. Signed by Col. Stibbert. Details of Warren Hastings' expedition to Benares and Chet Singh's rebellion.

Letter, dated Bombay, 13th Feb. 1779, from Lieut.-Colonel William Cockburn to the Council of Bombay, and other letters, regarding the expedition against the Marathas under Colonel Charles Egerton. Copies. Regarding the disgraceful convention of Wadgaon with the Marathas. (2) pp. 83-85 (23 x 18 cm.). News received overland from Bombay, dated 29th Dec. 1778. Regarding Col. Egerton's expedition, and the march of Colonel Thomas Goddard from Bengal. (3) p. 87 (22.5 x 18 cm.), Note, undated, from Robt. Orme to Mr. Mence. Original. Assuring him of the safety of his son Captain George Mence, who was with the force sent under Colonel Thomas Goddard from Bengal to Bombay.
8, pp. 92-93 (32 x 18.5 cm.). A Genealogical List of the Peshwah Family. Copy. By John Bellasis, Lieut. of Artillery. The founder is, according to the old custom, placed at the base or root of the Tree, and the order is from right to left.
9, pp. 95-100 (32 x 20 cm.). Extract of a letter from an Officer in the Army commanded by Brigadier General Goddard, dated Camp Ahmedabad, 25th February 1780. Copy. Account of the expedition to Gujarat and the capture of Ahmadabad, in the storm of which the breach was carried by a party under Lieut.-Col. James Hartley, "that child of fortune," - apparently so referred to in reference to his sudden promotion from Captain to Lieut.-Colonel in recognition of his gallant behaviour in Colonel Egerton's expedition. Description of Ahmadabad. See 92.4.
10, p. 107 (15 x 8 cm.). A memorandum of a march to Sadras. No year or even month mentioned.
11, p. 109 (23 x 18 cm.). Memorandum of the guns on the ships engaged on either side in some action, probably between Pocock and d'Ache.
12, p. 111 (32.5 x 19.5 cm.). (1) Extract from the General Letter from Fort St. George, dated the 20th Oct. 1764. Reporting the death of Major Preston at Madura and the Madras Council's high opinion of that officer. (2) Extract of a letter from Major General Lawrence, dated Fort St. George the 25th Oct. 1764. Saying that the joy caused by the capture of Madura had been much clouded by the death of Major Preston.
13, pp. 115-117 (32 x I9.5 cm.). Latter part of a letter from Joseph Smith. Signed and with a postcript in his own hand. From the contents it appears to have been written whilst he commanded the detachment with the Nizam early in 1767. Smith expresses ' a very poor opinion of the Nizam's troops, and grave doubts as to his fidelity to the English. Asks Orme's good offices in his favour with Lord Clive.
14, pp. 119-122 (22.3 x 18 cm.). Letter, dated Trichinopoly, 7 Sept, 1768. Unsigned, but from an officer in Col. Wood's detachment serving against Haidar Ali.
15, pp. 123-125 (32 x 20 cm.). Letter dated 16th April 1781, from F. Browne to Orme. Original. Forwards some notes taken verbatim from 71. 1 - details of the war with Haidar Ali-showing that the latter was written by Browne.
16. pp. 127-133 (32.5 x 20.5). The London Gazette Extra-ordinary, Thursday, March 18, 1779. Printed. Duplicate of 83.5.

19, pp. 141-143 (24 x 20 cm.). A List of Officers belonging to Lieut.-Colonel [William] Baillie's and Lieut.-Col. [Thomas] Fletcher’s Detachments. Copy. Intended to show the names of the officers killed and wounded in the defeat by Haidar Ali at Perambukam, 10th Sept. 1780. See No. 20 below
20, pp. 145-152 (25 x 19.5 cm.). Letter, dated Camp near Madras, 15th.Oct. 1780, from Colonel H. A. M. Cosby to --. Original. Encloses a list of the officers in Baillie's and Fletcher's detachments (possibly No. 19 above), describes his own repulse in an attempt to surprise Chittapet, and his junction with the main army at Chingleput after receiving news of Baillie's defeat.
21, pp. 153-174. The fight in Praya Bay, 16th April 1781. (1) pp. 153-156 (22.5 x 18.5 cm.). Extract of a letter from Captain Douglas of the "Queen," St. Jago, 20th April 1781, describing an action with the French, in which he was forced to haul down his colours for a time. (2) pp. 157-8 (31.4 x 18.5 cm.). General Meddises (? Major General William Medows) Orders. On board the "Romney," 6th March 1781. Apparently this refers to the expedition sent to the Cape of Good Hope in 1781 under Commodore George Johnstone, see No. (3) below. For this and the two following papers see "A narrative of a voyage to Arabia and India" by Silas James. (3) pp. 159-169 (22.3 x 18.5 cm.). Letter, dated St. Jago, 22nd April 1781, from Thos. J.
