Under some of the headings may be found useful information regarding Historical works and Books of Travels, e.g., the Headings East Indies, pp. 127-145 (in which Orme includes all countries east of Suez and the Cape of Good Hope); Mixed Voyages (pp. 170-172); India French Modern (pp. 249-253) (if this list represents all the French publications in Orme's possession, it is curious that Orme should not have received a copy of the Plainte du Chevalier Jacques Law contre Dupleix 1763, which might have modified his view of the behaviour of the French during the Trichinopoly campaign); India Tracts published of late years, English (pp. 261-275).
On p. 141 Orme mentions that the second edition of the first volume of his History (not mentioned in the Dictionary of National Biogl'aphy) was published in 1775 (see OV.202. 100), and on p. 143 he has the following description of his second volume :-" My second volume, each of the 8 books which compose the 2 Sections bound separately, intended for corrections if I should live to publish a second edition. 1778."
