(1). Libretto, published by Chappell & Co., Ltd., New Bond Street, London [1899], pp. 1-73. Signed in blue pencil on the front cover by R. Barker (Stage Director). 'A comic opera in three Acts, entitled The Lucky Star. Founded on and adapted from the French Original of Leterrier and Vanloo, and an American version thereof by Cheever Goodwin and Woolston Morse (by arrangement with Mr Francis Wilson). Some new dialogue by Charles H. E. Brookfield. New lyrics by Adrian Ross and by Aubrey Hopwood. The whole revised and put together by H[elen] L[enoir]. The music by Ivan Caryll.' Annotated in red ink, pencil, with some dialogue struck-through in blue pencil. Original cast printed with Dramatis Personae [p. 3].
(2). Prompt book. Ruled notebook with printed libretto cut and pasted, annotated throughout in black ink and pencil. The final page ('Finale Act 3') includes typed lines for chorus that are not in the printed libretto: 'Let us march away / Brave and gay our display / For 'tis plain to see / Joyful all we should be / And we surely feel / Wedding bells soon will peal / And for joy the bugles go / Tarantara! ra, ra!'
First performed at the Savoy Theatre, 7 Jan 1899.
