Annotated printed libretto pasted into a notebook.
Annotation on inside front cover: 'Property of / Mr R. D'Oyly Carte / Savoy Theatre / London. Annotation on facing front flyleaf: 'Tour Co. B'. (The opera was performed on tour, beginning in 1893.)
First performed at the Globe Theatre, 22 July 1882. It was revived at the Savoy Theatre 28 January 1892. The pasted-in 'Dramatis Personae' page includes the original Savoy Theatre cast (printed).
In addition to the libretto, the notebook includes other material hinged and folded:
- 'Winifred's new Song, Act I' (2 sheets, typed);
- 'Bedford Rowe', 8a (3 sheets, typed);
- 'The progress of science has now reached a phase' (1 sheet typed);
- 1st and 2nd encore verses, 'Rontgen Rays', Act II (black ink manuscript).
